ALBANY, N.Y. – The Women's Premier Soccer League's newest team, the Tri-City Celtics, is proud to call the Capital District its home. The first-year program is three games into the season and preparing for their first home game of the year.
The Celtics roster features local players who are playing at the college level or have in the past. The goal of the team is to help the players improve during the off-season as they compete against the top talent in the area.
"It's awesome because I get to play with all the top girls in the area on this club and it helps to get me ready for Siena and college-level soccer because all these girls playing have already played in college and know what's it's like," said Shenendehowa senior Kristen Connors.
The team's home opener will be played Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Plumeri Sports Complex.
