ALBANY, N.Y. – Shelters
across the country participated in Just One Day, an event in which
organizations put euthanasia on hold in order to photograph and market animals
to the public.
Starting Tuesday, the shelters
will reach out to rescue groups, host adoption events, stay open for extended
hours, and ask their communities to help them empty the shelter the good way.
Last year, about 800
organizations answered the call, finding homes for roughly 9,000 animals,
erasing one day's worth of killing.
