NORTH GREENBUSH, N.Y. - Police in North Greenbush have arrested a man for allegedly assaulting his live-in girlfriend's 4-year-old son.
Police have charged 30-year-old Michael Childs, of 30 Main Avenue, with four counts of third-degree Assault and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child after an investigation was completed by the Rensselaer County Department of Social Services and the North Greenbush Police Department.
Police say the young boy was being treated at Troy Hospital over the weekend on an unrelated illness when the injuries were discovered. Emergency Room staff then alerted police who discovered the injuries which they say occurred at Childs' home in Wynantskill. The injuries are said to be non-life threatening; bruises mostly.
He was arraigned and remanded to Rensselaer County Jail on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
