Boy bitten by fox in Saratoga

BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. – The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of a 9-year-old boy who had been bitten multiple times by a fox in the Town of Saratoga on Sunday.

The boy had been playing outside the residence at 136 County Route 67 when he was attacked by the animal without provocation, officials say. He suffered puncture wounds to his leg and hands, and was transported by private vehicle to Saratoga Hospital and Nursing Home for treatment.

The fox was killed by the boy's father prior to the officers' arrival on scene and has been secured by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, so that it may be tested for rabies.

The Saratoga County Department of Health also responded to the scene.
