Joe Rogers has been with the NEWS CENTER for more than a year now. It's his second job since graduating from the University of South Florida. He's produced about every show here at theNEWS CENTER, having started with the weekend shows. Joe faces many challenges in producing a morning show and we're not just talking about a shift that begins at 10:30 at night!
As a Producer for the 6 am hour of NEWS CENTER in the Morning on 10 ABC, Joe strives to keep the Capital Region informed on all the top stories, what viewers may have missed overnight and what they can expect for the day ahead. He picks, plans and organizes the stories each day. He puts them in the order they will air on a rundown and makes sure all anchors, reporters and thetechnical crew are on the same page so the show runs smoothly.
Putting a morning show together can be very challenging because fewer news stories happen overnight while most people are sleeping. To counteract this, Joe says he finds ways to be more creative in the way he produces the newscast. "I like my job because it allows me to tell compelling and creative stories everyday. I love learning about the world and how people act within it," says Joe. Spoken like someone who has truly been bitten by the news bug!
Outside of work, Joe likes to run with his dog Lydia. He's also working on getting his masters degree in web design through the University of Florida. Sounds like a plan considering so much news is now viewed on social media and internet based platforms.
