FULTONVILLE, N.Y. – The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office has arrested a local man after they teamed up with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service to complete a controlled delivery of illegal marijuana.
Zachary J. Denero, 21, of 679 Argersinger Road, Fultonville, was charged with Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the 4th Degree, a misdemeanor.
The Sheriff's Office received a tip that Denero was receiving illegal drugs through the US Mail and that he may be involved with local distribution of drugs. The Sheriff's Office contacted the U.S. Postal Inspector who agreed to place a watch on Denero and his residence for any suspicious packages. On Monday June 3, 2013, the Postal Inspector contacted the Sheriff's Office to advise of a package at the Fultonville Post Office that appeared to be in question.
K-9 officer GAJ indicated the package contained illegal drugs, a federal search warrant was obtained and the package opened. Just under a half-pound of top grade marijuana was discovered. The package was resealed and delivered to Denero by the Postal Inspector and Sheriff's Deputies.
He was arraigned in the Town of Glen Court and released on $1,000.00 cash bail, to appear at a later date. The investigation continues and additional charges are possible.
