Zendaya, star of the series Shake It Up! on the Disney Channel and as runner-up on this past season's dance competition reality show Dancing with the Stars on ABC.
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The New York Racing Association announced that Dancing with the Stars runner-up and Disney Channel sensation Zendaya will headline a free family concert during the 33rd annual Open House at Saratoga Race Course on Sunday, July 14.
The Open House will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the concert beginning at 3 p.m.
The concert comes in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the first organized thoroughbred race meeting in Saratoga, which took place over the course of four days in August 1863.
The annual day of family fun and attractions will be billed as the Opening Ceremonies for the season, which officially opens its gates on Friday, July 19 for 40 days of racing through Labor Day, Monday, September 2.
Open House will feature a free family concert from Zendaya, star of the series Shake It Up! on the Disney Channel and as runner-up on this past season's dance competition reality show Dancing with the Stars on ABC.
Admission to both Open House and the concert, including reserved Clubhouse and Grandstand seats, is free.
"Saratoga Race Course is a truly tremendous sporting venue that deserves an anniversary celebration worthy of its stature in the community. Hosting a free concert with Zendaya allows us to kick off the season in a grandiose way while staying true to our tradition of affordable family fun during this annual pre-season celebration," said Rodnell Workman, vice president and chief marketing officer for NYRA. "We look forward to once again welcoming families through the gates as we launch a memorable anniversary season at Saratoga."
Prior to Zendaya's performance, NYRA will host several exhibition races on the main track in the tradition of the Newman E. Wait, Jr. trials.
