HALFMOON, N.Y. - The Saratoga County Sheriff's office says a 48-year-old man has died after being struck by a car along Route 4 in the town of Halfmoon early Sunday morning.

The Sheriff's Office says that 28-year-old David Braley of Mechanicville fell asleep while driving on Route 4 shortly before 3:30 a.m. Sunday and veered off the roadway between Upper and Lower Newtown Roads, near the intersection of Willow Lane.

The car struck a pedestrian, 48-year-old Dennis Doten of Mechanicville, who was pronounced dead at the scene of head and body injuries.

Doten is a Marine and volunteer firefighter.

Doten's wake will be at Devito Salvadore Funeral Parlor on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. He will then be buried with full Military honors at Saratoga National Cemetery on Thursday.

"It's hard, he's going to be missed," said Gene Duchesne, Doten's brother in law. "He was a Marine, he was tough, but God needed him."

Braley was ticketed for failure to keep right.
