TROY, N.Y. – A Troy family says their home was condemned Thursday as a result of Wednesday's storm.
Betty Kepner, who owns the home on Mcloughlin Lane, says she heard a cracking noise above her head as she sat on her couch Wednesday. The sound was her house buckling under the pressure of a massive tree.
The tree uprooted during the storm and ended up punching through the roof of her Troy home.
Kepner's daughter told the NEWS CENTER the family had gathered downstairs at around 7 p.m. after receiving a weather alert on an application on her cell phone.
Kepner tells the NEWS CENTER the house she's lived in for 40 years and raised her kids in is now condemned, but she is grateful no one was hurt.
