LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (AP) - The Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse Tournament is gearing up for its 24th edition in August.
More than 500 games featuring around 4,000 players are planned on 12 fields. Teams are coming from New York, New England, the mid-Atlantic region, Kansas, Florida, Colorado, Oregon and Canada.
Contests will be held in boys and girls scholastic divisions, men's and women's open divisions, and men's Masters, Grand Masters and Super Grand Masters. More than 15 college alumni groups, including Syracuse, Johns Hopkins, Cornell, Georgetown, and Penn, will have teams playing in the tournament.
The week-long competition has become Lake Placid's second-largest event behind only the Ironman Triathlon, which will take place a week earlier.
