Rensselaer County Investigators look into criminal mischief complaints


BERLIN, N.Y. - Rensselaer County Sheriff's Investigators are looking into about a dozen criminal mischief complaints of car windows being smashed, mailboxes damaged, and a telephone pole cut down by a chainsaw in the Town of Berlin on Wednesday.

Detective Shane Holcomb tells the NEWS CENTER the incidents happened in the area of Dutch Church Road in Berlin.

"The motive looks to be aggravation to the general public," Holcomb says.  

The New York State Police are investigating similar complaints in Town of Grafton, but Holcomb says the have not confirmed that they are related.

Investigators are following up on leads, but have not made any arrests. If anyone has information about who's committing these crimes officials are asking that you call 518-266-1980.
