ALBANY, N.Y. - A class of 192 new New York State troopers graduated in Albany on Wednesday.
The ceremony Wednesday morning features graduates from a variety of backgrounds, including previous military and police service. The event was held at 11 a.m. at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center.
It wraps up the 199th session of the "Basic School" at the State Police Academy.
Governor Andrew Cuomo spoke at the graduation, closing his address saying, "Go forth and do great work for the state of New York. We're proud to have you."
Budget problems had slowed adding troopers to the force, but the new class will fill slots opened by retirements and other reductions.
