GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. - A Gloversville man has been arrested for allegedly causing injuries to his girlfriend's 3-year-old daughter over an extended period of time.
Police were first alerted to the situation when they were called to the apartment at 51 Yale Street in Gloversville around 9:30 a.m. Monday to check on the welfare of a 25-year-old woman and her 3-year-old daughter, because the child did not show up to daycare.
While speaking to the woman and her boyfriend, Marc Nicols, officers noticed injuries and bruising to the 3-year-old's head and body. Detectives were called to the scene and the child was taken to Albany Medical Center for further evaluation.
During the investigation it was learned that Nichols had caused the injuries to the child over a period of a month.
Nichols was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Assault 3rd-degree and Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, all misdemeanors, and remanded to the Fulton County Correctional Facility.
The investigation remains open with additional charges pending.
