UAlbany baseball Gets 3rd Seed in Conference Tournament

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Entering Sunday's game with Binghamton, both UAlbany and the Bearcats knew they would be facing each other in the opening round of the America East tournament in just a couple of days. What they didn't know was who would be slated the No. 2 seed and who would fall to the No. 3 seed in post-season baseball.

The outcome - Binghamton secured the No. 2 spot after defeating the Great Danes in a dominating 10-3 victory at Varsity Field in the team's regular season finale. Jake Thomas sparked the Bearcats' momentum with a pair of two-run home runs in the first and third innings.

As a part of Senior Day, eight members the Great Danes squad, including Luke Burns, Austin Chase, Brian Gauthier, Kasceim Graham, Nolan Gaige, Greg Muller, Jeff Welsh, and Derek Zielinski were honored in a pregame ceremony Saturday.

Up next for the Great Danes is a trek to Lowell, Mass., where they will compete in the America East Conference Tournament for the fifth consecutive season. UAlbany will face Binghamton at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at LeLacheur Park. The game will follow the 4 p.m. contest between No. 1 Maine and No. 4 Stony Brook.
