GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. - The Gloversville Police Department has arrested a man for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a teenage girl last year.
Police say 61-year-old John Johnson, of 18 James Street in Gloversville, was arrested Friday on charges stemming from the incident which took place October 3, 2012, when officers were alerted by Gloversville High School officials and coaches that he had picked up a 16-year-old girl and took her to his home.
Johnson refused to answer the door when police arrived, and the young girl was seen leaving his home via the back door later in the night. The girl was located by police and turned over to her parents.
An investigation has revealed Johnson engaged in a sexual relationship with the girl, beginning when she was 15-years-old, and he had provided alcohol to her during the period of June through October 2012.
Johnson has been charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Sexual Misconduct, both misdemeanors. He was arraigned and pleaded guilty to the charges.
