Openings set in Mass. trial over 2009 fatal fire

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - Attorneys are expected to make their opening statements in the trial of a Northampton man accused of causing the fire deaths of a father and son in 2009.

Twenty-8-year-old Anthony Baye has pleaded not guilty to charges including arson and murder. He is accused of setting 15 fires on Dec. 27, 2009, including a house fire that took the lives of 81-year-old Paul Yeskie Sr. and his son, 39-year-old Paul Yeskie Jr.

After the lawyers openings Thursday morning, jurors are scheduled to visit scenes related to the case. Testimony expected to start Friday morning.

Judge Constance Sweeney moved the trial out of Northampton. She also ruled that Baye would not be tried on charges related to other fires set earlier in 2009.
