BRUNSWICK, N.Y. – The Town of Brunswick is under a Boil Water Order after a water sample taken during a routine bacterial sampling on May 6th tested positive for E. Coli.

The Town of Brunswick is now required to do two sets of re-samples which must be negative for any contamination prior to removing the Boil Water Order. The first set of sample results will be available Thursday afternoon and the second set of samples will available Friday May 10th. If both results are negative, the Boil Water Order will be lifted Friday afternoon.

According to the town, the source of contamination of this sample could be internal to the water system or an external source of contamination when taking the sample.

The affected users should Boil their water for at least one minute prior to using for drinking, brushing teeth, washing dishes, making ice or preparing food. The water is safe for showering and doing laundry.

The notice does not affect the District 11, Leversee Road residents.
