ALBANY, N.Y. - Ticket prices are climbing and baggage fees are steep, and a recent report shows Albany International Airport ranks as one of the pricier airports.
"I have customers from all over the world who fly into New York City because they refuse to pay the prices to come to Albany, even though it is more convenient," said Joanne Roscoe.
Roscoe says she isn't surprised Albany International Airport ranked the highest of any airport in New York State as far as round trip fares are concerned.
A recent report set the average round trip ticket at Albany International at $411.
A spokesman for the airport says the reason ticket prices tend to be higher is because the flights are longer. But mile per mile, he says fliers are paying less.
Richard Merck of Kingston says even though he might have to pay a bit more, it's all about convenience. "I'd come to Albany before NYC even if it is pricey. Even today I could've flown to Laguardia but I came here."
But for many, these higher prices are what they are left to deal with and say they aren't really taken aback by it.
