ALBANY, N.Y. – As a part of the 27th Annual Police Officers Memorial Mass and Remembrance Ceremony, law enforcement officials from across the state will travel to the Empire State Plaza Wednesday to pay tribute to 16 police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. In preparation for the event, the Albany Police Department has issued a road closure and parking restriction advisory.
The event kicks off at 10:20 a.m. and will continue through to 1 p.m., but road closures and parking restrictions will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. as follows:
The day's events will begin with a mass at 10:20 Wednesday morning at Saint Mary's Church, located at Pine and Lodge Streets, where Police Chief Steven Krokoff will be reading the names of those who have lost their lives. At 12:30 p.m., officers will then march from Academy Park to the New York State Police Officers Memorial. The formal ceremony begins at 1 p.m. at the New York State Police Officers Memorial.
