Ice cream truck operators arrested for harassing rival truck

GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. - Some tough competition between two rival ice cream trucks in Gloversville has resulted in the arrest of one ice cream truck owner and his girlfriend for harassment.

Gloversville Police say 34-year-old Joshua Malatino and his girlfriend 21-year-old Amanda Scott, both of Gloversville, operate several Sno Cone Joe ice cream trucks and were allegedly stalking and harassing rival ice cream truck, Mr. Ding-A-Ling.

Police say Malatino and Scott would follow the Mr. Ding-A-Ling truck to the location they were selling ice cream, play their music at a high volume, and yell that they have free ice cream in an attempt to draw customers away from the rival truck.

Malatino was found to have yelled at the Mr. Ding-A-Ling driver, claiming that his business controls the ice cream sales market in the City of Gloversville.

Police say this happened on three noted dates: April 16th on West Eighth Avenue, April 19th on Forest Street, and April 28th on North Main Street. They were arrested after an investigation on Tuesday night.

Malatino and Scott were arrested for Harassment 2nd-degree and Stalking 4th-degree following an investigation into a complaint filed by the owner of the Mr. Ding-A-Ling ice cream truck.
