LEWIS, N.Y. - New York State Police say a Ballston Spa man has died as the result of an ATV accident in the town of Westport Monday night.

Police say 49-year-old Tyler Middleton was operating was operating a 2002 Polaris ATV on Mountain Springs Road, a logging road, when for unknown reasons, the ATV exited the drivable portion of the road and traveled down a small embankment.

The ATV overturned pinning Middleton underneath it.

Middleton was a member of the lease that he was operating his ATV on and he was traveling by himself. Middleton was discovered by fellow lease members who went looking for him when he failed to return home.

State Police were then called to investigate Monday around 11:20 p.m. They say the road he was on provides access to the Nichols Pond Association.
