Baby dies after Raymertown crash, cause under investigation

RAYMERTOWN, N.Y. - The Rensselaer County Sheriff's Office says the baby has died following a crash that sent four individuals to the hospital, including the pregnant driver.

Officials say 25-year-old Collette Hoag of Hoosick was 8-months pregnant at the time of the April 6th crash. The 2010 Hyundai Elantra driven by Hoag was the only car involved in the accident, which occurred around 5:25 a.m. near the Raymertown Garage on Route 7.

The male baby born after the crash sadly died on April 22nd, police say.

Hoag needed to be extricated from the vehicle, due to being pinned behind the wheel after the crash. She has since recovered.

Three other passengers were taken to Albany Medical Center.

The Sheriff's Office would not give any further details about what could have caused the accident or if alcohol or speed were factors. Toxicology results are pending.
