Fire put out at Alps Family Campground


NASSAU, N.Y. – Firefighters responded to a call at Alps Family Campground, on Route 43 in the town of Nassau Sunday afternoon.

Rensselaer County Sheriff officials say the call came in at 4:21 p.m. from the campground owner, who says the campground is not officially open for the season. A 30' by 30' cabin was ablaze. The fire was knocked down at 5:19 p.m.

Officials were at the scene into the night, and the cause is still under investigation.

One person at the scene was taken to Samaritan Hospital in Troy. The identity and injuries are unknown.
