ALBANY, N.Y. – Thousands came together Sunday to honor babies born healthy and those who need help to survive and thrive, during the March of Dimes annual March for Babies.
The event began at 9 a.m., with a 3-mile walk kicking off at 10 a.m. Families and attendees enjoyed music, face painting, and more.
The 2013 Albany Ambassador Family is the Kulzer Family. Marianne and Mark Kulzer understand the March of Dimes mission after Marianne went into preterm labor with her first daughter at 17 weeks and 5 days. Baby Amelia spent 47 days in the neonatal intensive care unit. The couple's second daughter, Anya, spent 29 days in the NICU. Today the girls are nine and seven, and the family is dedicated to making sure other parents have the same happy ending.
The March of Dimes is a nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health. It works to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
