NY labor union, Congress at odds over ‘comp time’ legislation

ALBANY, N.Y. -- The AFLCIO, a New York State Labor Union, is telling congress not to mess the 40-hour work week and to keep their hands off overtime.

The group is upset that some members of congress have renewed the decades old attack on the 40-hour work week and are pushing for so called "comp time" legislation.

Part of the Working Families Flexibility Act, the legislation means overtime would become a thing of the past -- instead employers would hand out comp time rather than more money.

Supporters of the measure say our country is trending towards a-typical work schedules now that more people are forced to take care of older relatives and people with special needs.
