ALBANY, N.Y. - Officials in Albany County held a "Ceremony of Remembrance" in observance of National Crime Victims' Rights Week in Academy Park in the city on Wednesday.

Albany County District Attorney David Soares, Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy, Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple, Albany Police Department Chief Steven Krokoff were in attendance and were joined by dozens of observers during the ceremony, which took place at the corner of Eagle and Elk Street at noon.

Soares says the goal was to come together to "extend the vision and bring light to those whose lives have been darkened by crime."
