4 arrested in connection to Johnstown burglary & stabbing

UPDATE: The two teenage suspects wanted in connection with the stabbing which occurred in Johnstown turned themselves in to police around 1:15 p.m. Thursday.

JOHNSTOWN, N.Y. - The Johnstown Police Department has arrested two men and seeks two others after an alleged burglary and stabbing occurred at a home in the city of Johnstown.

On the night of Sunday, April 14, police say three males entered a home at 34 South Melcher Street and took a home security safe. As they were fleeing the home, a confrontation with the residents ensued and an 18-year-old male was stabbed four times with a knife.

Following an investigation, 20-year-old Jared-Corey Maye, of Amsterdam, and 46-year-old Michael Rote, of Broadalbin, were arrested. Maye has been charged with Burglary 1st, Assault 2nd, and Petit Larceny. Rote has been charged with Burglary 1st and Petit Larceny.

Police are still searching for two males believed to be hiding out in the Broadalbin or Amsterdam area. Warrants have been issued for 18-year-old Joshua Guist, known to hang out in the Johnstown/Gloversville area, and 19-year-old Robert Guist, last known to be hiding in the Broadalbin area. Both have relatives in Amsterdam.

Police are asking for anyone with information on the whereabouts of the two remaining suspects to call (518) 736-4021.
