Police: Reckless driver struck teenage pedestrian in Valatie

VALATIE, N.Y. - New York State Police have arrested a 20-year-old Niverville man who they say was driving recklessly when he struck a female teenager standing on the side of the road.
State Police say troopers and rescue teams were dispatched to New Street in the village of Valatie around 8 p.m. Tuesday, after Joshua
Southard was allegedly driving on New St. and struck a 17-year-old female standing on the side of the road with a group of other pedestrians.
Police have not released any information on the victim's condition.
He was arrested
for Assault 3rd degree, Reckless Endangerment 2nd degree, Reckless Driving, all
Class A Misdemeanors as well as being issued Vehicle and Traffic tickets for
Imprudent Speed and Failing to Use Due Care to Pedestrians.
