WHITEHALL, N.Y. – Three men are under arrest in connection to a drive-by shooting which took place early Friday morning in a Whitehall trailer park.
On Friday at 4:39 a.m. State Police Granville responded to Molinero's Trailer Park, at 9850 State Route 4, for a report of shots being fired. Two trailers had been hit by multiple rounds.
During the investigation, police learned the shooting may have targeted acquaintances of the residents of one of the trailers struck by gunfire, and was retaliation for a prior narcotics related dispute.
At the time of the shooting, both trailers were occupied by several people, none were injured.
State Police arrested 23-year-old Francisco Gonzalez and 40-year-old Jose Febus, both of Hartford, Conn. for Attempted Murder in the second degree, Criminal Use of a Firearm in the first degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree. Brendaliz Febus, 21, of Whitehall, was charged with Criminal Possession Controlled Substance in the third degree.
The Attempted Murder and Criminal use of a Firearm charges are related to the suspects shooting the trailers in an attempt to commit murder. The Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance was charged as the three subjects were found in possession of crack cocaine, powder cocaine and heroin in their Whitehall motel room.
Two rifles believed to be used in the shooting were also recovered during the investigation.
The State Police were assisted by the Albany Police Department, Capital District Drug Task Force, Fair Haven Police Department, Whitehall Police Department, Warren County Sheriff's Office, Washington County Sheriff's Office and the Vermont State Police.
