HUDSON, N.Y. -- Julianna Reid was born with a rare disease, and managed to beat cancer twice – but now, doctors say it could be back.
Her Hudson community is rallying together, planning to help the family through a fundraiser and special walk for Julianna.
It's an even that was organized in a matter of days for this Saturday. Put together by her best friends out of love and support for a girl who's already battled so much.
"I don't think it's fair she doesn't deserve it at all," said Nicole Downey, her close friend.
Inya Dejesus, Julianna's younger sister tells NEWS CENTER, "I want her to come home."
Julianna fought off a rare disease that was destroying her liver at an early age. Her family says she beat cancer twice by age 15.
"It's really scary, but I try to stay strong and try not to think about it," said Julianna over a phone interview.
Friday night, Julianna was back in a hospital bed. During a recent routine checkup doctors found lumps in her lymph nodes.
"They told us it was a reoccurrence of the cancer," Reid said.
The cancer may be back for a third time.
"She's going to fight through this, get through it and survive," said Reid's sister.
Doctors performed surgery on her Friday morning to get a better picture of what Julianna is battling this time around.
"I don't think too many people could survive this," said Lenny Reid, Julianna's father.
While the family waits for answers on whether to cancer is back, a walk will be held at the 7th Street Park.
Julianna's supporters will sell t-shirts to help the family pay their medical bills. They plan to wear the shirts and walk along Warren Street to Front Street where they will release balloons for Julianna.
"We're here for her 100 percent," said Downey.
The walk for Julianna will start Saturday April 13 at 12 p.m.
Julianna's friends have also started a twitter campaign in hopes of getting Justin Beiber's attention with the hashtag #TEAMGIA.
