A Whitehall man has been sentenced in the U.S. District Court in Rutland for traveling interstate to have engaged in illicit sex with a minor.
45-year-old George Bruso was sentenced to 48 months in jail and five years of supervised release following his conviction. Agents received information that Bruso was interested in having sex with a minor prostitute, so law enforcement pretended to be a 14-year-old girl and communicated with him via text messages for three weeks.
Ultimately, Bruso and the undercover officer agreed to meet at a movie theater in South Burlington, Vermont where he was arrested.
U.S. Attorney said this prosecution is part of the U.S. Dept. of Justice's Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide effort to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.
