Safe stolen from Adams bar, suspect caught on camera

ADAMS, Mass. - A bar and restaurant owner in Adams, Massachusetts is out several thousand dollars Tuesday night after someone broke into his business and stole his safe.

Dennis Knapp, the owner of Chicks Bar and Restaurant, says he knew something wasn't right the morning of March 23rd when he opened his business for the day.

"I saw the back door was opened, and then realized it had been broken open," said Knapp.

Knapp then realized the safe was gone and immediately pulled the surveillance tape. There he saw the burglar, making his way around the bar and into the safe.

"I've spoken to all the regulars here and they didn't even know where the safe was."

Knapp says the suspect broke into the bar, made it to the safe, and back out in less than one minute.

"He had his hat down and definitely knew there were cameras in here"

In the safe, which weighed close to 200 lbs, Knapp says there was a couple thousand dollars.  He says it wasn't just money the suspect took, but his piece of mind.

"I came back in here after it happened and I had apprehensions for the first time since I've owned this place," he said.

Thursday, police hope someone recognizes the suspect or the coat he was wearing so they can find out who he is and why he targeted Chicks Bar and Restaurant.
