STILLWATER, N.Y. – A local man is under arrest following a two-month long investigation into the theft of a motor vehicle in Stillwater.

Stillwater Police arrested William B. Shafer, 26, of Stillwater on an arrest warrant charging him with felony 4th-Degree Grand Larceny.

According to police, Shafer took a vehicle from a resident and later sold it to a local scrap yard for a sum of money without the owner's consent.

He was located in a New York State Prison where he is serving a sentence for an unrelated criminal conviction. He was produced in Stillwater Town Court, arraigned and later sent back to prison.

This is the second arrest made in the case. Stillwater Police arrested a female co-defendant on March 14, and charged her with felony 4th-Degree Grand Larceny as well.
