CLAVERACK, N.Y. – A 47-year-old man is under arrest and charged with rape of an underage girl he met on the internet.
Columbia County Sheriff David Harrison, Jr. reports that Perry Pendall, 47, of Stock Farm Road in Chestertown, has been arrested and charged with Rape.
The Columbia County Sheriff Office was contacted two weeks ago by the parents of a girl who reported that an adult male had been having sexual contact with their daughter.
The sheriff's office began an investigation which revealed that Pendall and the girl had met on the internet and that he had visited her home in Columbia County on several occasions.
Pendall was arrested by investigators Friday when he arrived at the girls home.
He was charged with Rape in the 2nd-Degree a class D-Felony and arraigned at the Columbia County Courthouse and remanded to the Columbia County jail in lieu of $500,000.00 cash bail or $1,000,000.00 bail bond.
The case is set to be presented to the Grand Jury on Monday April 8, 2013.
The investigation is ongoing and further charges are possible according to the sheriff's office.
The Sheriff is asking that anyone that may have information concerning Pendall or his actions, to call or contact the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigative Branch at (518) 828-4316.
District Attorney Paul Czajka's Office along with the Warren County Sheriff's Criminal Investigative Unit is assisting in the investigation. Captain David Bartlett, Senior Investigator Kevin Skype, Patrol Sgt. William Zincio and other uniformed members of the Sheriff Office also assisted in the investigation.
