SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Anthony Gallo, a Rotterdam man accused of driving high on drugs and mowing down a college student in Schenectady, was found guilty on all seven counts, including Aggravated Vehicular Manslaughter, Driving Under the Influence of Drugs with a suspended license, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
According to authorities, 19-year-old Cassandra Boone was crossing Erie Boulevard in 2011 when she was struck by Gallo traveling northbound. She sustained head and chest injuries and was treated at the scene by the Schenectady Fire Department and was transported by a Mohawk Ambulance to Albany Medical Center in serious condition. Once at AMC, Boone was taken to emergency surgery and later died.
Gallo could face up to 25 years in prison when he is sentenced in June.
