Shen lacrosse coach suspended during investigation into verbal abuse of players
CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. - A high school coach in Clifton Park is sidelined while school officials investigate allegations that he was verbally abusive to his players.
The Shenendehowa School District confirms that Chuck Holohan, head coach of the boys lacrosse team, is suspended pending a decision regarding his coaching position.
Shenendehowa Athletic Director Chris Culnan says he began receiving complaints from parents and players last weekend. Those complaints focused on verbal comments made by Holohan to players during practices.
"I can tell you unequivocally that he did nothing to endanger a student athlete physically. There are also allegations of abusive language towards players. That's what we are looking into right now," said Culnan.
Holohan, who is also employed as a special education teacher, was visibly absent during Thursday's game against Saratoga.
The athletic director tells the NEWSCENTER to expect a decision on Holohan's position as head coach by Thursday night or Friday morning.
