(Glenville)- Glenville Police say Superior Auto on Saratoga Road in Glenville served as a front for its owner to allegedly sell anabolic steroids.
After an investigation between the DEA, Homeland Security, the Postal Inspector's Office and local police, 48-year-old Anthony Crocetto Junior was taken into custody.
"The investigation shows he was selling steroids to local friends of his," said Detective William Marchewka with Glenville Police.
Marchewka said the Postal Inspector's Office tipped off Glenville Police after noticing the packages that were covered in Chinese print.
They just didn't look right.
Police traced them to Crocetto and with a search warrant they say they found other packages in his business that included marijuana.
In total, police seized 55 vials of liquid steroids and 1000 oral tablets.
Investigators say the vials alone bring in close to 200 dollars a piece.
"It is in black market form and that is not quality controlled so there are no checks and balances as far as what you are injecting in yourself," said Marchewka.
Crocetto appeared in Glenville court Tuesday after posting his $5,000 bail.
He is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession with the intent to sell.
Police say Internet purchases of controlled substances such as the ones found in Crocetto's possession are a growing issue and something agencies across the board are keeping an eye on.
"The Department of Homeland Security is doing a lot more with local police and Postal Inspectors are handling a lot more cases than they normally would."
