Police: Teen with BB gun shoots woman

SAUGERTIES, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a Hudson Valley teenager has been charged after police say he shot a woman with a BB gun made to resemble an AR-15 assault rifle.

Police in Saugerties, 40 miles south of Albany, tell local media outlets that 18-year-old Dean Wylie fired the gun from his second-floor apartment on Tuesday evening and hit a woman in the arm while she walked past.

Officer say witnesses had reported hearing what sounded like someone shooting a BB gun at street signs. Wylie was arrested soon after and charged with assault and reckless endangerment.

Police say Wylie admitted that he was shooting his BB rifle at passing tractor-trailers and at street signs.

Wylie is being held in Ulster County Jail on $1,000 bail. Information on his lawyer wasn't available.
