SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – A parole absconder was arrested after detectives discovered him in a hotel room with three other individuals, heroin, and what they say was a significant amount of money.
At 9 a.m. Monday morning, the Schenectady Police Department's Detective Division and Special Investigation Unit responded to 1616 State St. after receiving information that a parole absconder was residing there.
Detectives were able to make contact with the man in question as well as three other individuals inside the hotel room. The suspect, identified as Calvin Constantopoulos, 22, was searched and heroin was located.
A search warrant was obtained for the hotel room and executed by members of the Detective Division. Inside the room Detectives located a large quantity of heroin and a significant amount of U.S. Currency.
Constantopoulos was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in both the 3rd and 7th-Degrees. He is also facing charges from a previous incident in which was stopped by an officer, during the stop, he was asked for identification and at that point he fled the scene in his vehicle grazing the officers right leg in the process. The officer was uninjured and charges are pending in that incident.
