Two arrested after counterfeit money investigation

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. – Two men are under arrest after an investigation into the circulation of counterfeit money led officers to them.

Saratoga County Sheriff's began investigating the counterfeit money after $20 bills were being passed at a Hess Mart.

Working with the Hudson Falls Police, they were able to identify the individual who passed the bill, who was in turn cooperative in helping law enforcement locate the source of the bills.

According to the sheriff's office, Carson Davis, 19, of Ballston Spa, and Ryan Klippel, 20, of Glens Falls had arranged to use the bills in a narcotics purchase at the Malta Ecological Park. When the dealer realized the cash was fake, he took the drugs back as well as the money.

According to the sheriff's office, the two men fled the enraged drug dealer.

Davis and Klippel were interviewed, and admitted to having the counterfeit money

Both were arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the 1st-Degree.

The investigation is ongoing and the sheriff's office is being assisted by the U.S. Secret Service.
