14 of NY Army Guard's best face off for titles

LATHAM, N.Y. (AP) - Fourteen soldiers and sergeants from the New York Army National Guard will square off this weekend in the 2-day Best Warrior competition.

The soldiers and non-commissioned officers come from units across the state. They will gather at the Division of Military and Naval Affairs headquarters in Latham. They'll be tested on physical fitness, weapons and navigational skills, and other military knowledge.

The top finishers will compete in a regional competition. Winners there will go to an all-Army competition later this year.
