SCHAGHTICOKE,
N.Y. – Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of a fire in the Village
of Schaghticoke Thursday.
Schaghticoke dispatchers received a call at 2:49 a.m. for a structure fire at a
garage at 158 Main St. in the village.
The garage is a total loss, and two
houses and another garage were damaged as a result of the fire. At this time, a
cause has yet to be determined and the Rensselaer County Sheriff's Office is
currently conducting a joint investigation with the Rensselaer County fire
investigation team to determine the cause of the fire.

Several fire companies responded to
fight the blaze, including Schaghticoke Village Fire Department, Hoosick
Valley, Valley Falls, Johnsonville, Speigletown, and Melrose Fire Department.
