SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - The man accused of threatening to kill a Skidmore student is facing more charges in Saratoga Springs relating to issuing a bad check.
The Saratoga Springs Police Department says 49-year-old Lance Leonard of Cuttyhunk, Mass. has been arrested on a warrant issued in November 2012. Police say Leonard was staying at a local bed and breakfast and left without paying. They say he was contacted by the owners, and sent a check for the cost of the stay, however there was no money in his checking account to cover the check.
Leonard has been charged with issuing a bad check and theft of services, both misdemeanors, and remanded back to the Saratoga County Jail pending the Skidmore College charges.
In early March, Saratoga Springs Police say Leonard made threats to a student via text message saying he would "shoot her and then kill
himself" causing the campus to go into lockdown. He was located in Atlantic City the next morning and charged with Coercion 1st-degree, a felony, Aggravated Harassment and Stalking, both misdemeanors. Saratoga Springs investigators brought Leonard back to the city to face the charges last week.
