BENNINGTON, Vt. – Two men were arrested and face charges after a fight over a woman escalated into a stabbing.

At 8 a.m. on Sunday, Bennington Police Officers were dispatched to Sweets Mobile Home Park on South Stream Road in Bennington, Vt. in response to an active assault in progress.

When they arrived, police found many people around the trailer, some injured and some were witnesses.  One man, identified as Donald Loveland II, 27, of Bennington, Vt. was found to have a stab wound in his hand.  Another male was found inside the trailer, later identified as Christopher Prevost, 34, showed signs of being assaulted.  Both were transported to the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center for further care and treatment.

A third victim was found, a 24-year-old female complained of a shoulder injury.  She was treated and released when it was determined she was uninjured, only shaken up.

According to police, this assault happened as one man is alleged to have gone to bed with the female after a night of drinking alcohol, while she was still possibly involved in a relationship with the other man.

Both men began to fight each other and in the process of fighting, Prevost stabbed Loveland in the hand.  The knife was recovered.

Both Loveland and Prevost were treated at the medical center and released into the care of Bennington Police.

After consulting with the Bennington County State's Attorney Office, Loveland is being charged with Felony offense of Unlawful Trespass, Burglary and Aggravated Assault.  He was released on Conditions and has an arraignment on March 18.

Mr. Prevost was charged with Aggravated Assault, with bail was set at $50,000.  He is being remanded to the Marble Valley Correctional Center in lieu of bail with the same arraignment date.
