CLAY, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say they have a suspect in custody in the death of a woman who was fatally injured in front of her 10-year-old daughter during a carjacking at a suburban Syracuse mall.
State Trooper Jack Keller says Friday that the woman died last night and her daughter is hospitalized. Information on how the woman was killed or the extent of the injuries to daughter isn't immediately available. Their names haven't been released.
Keller says a suspect has been taken into custody. He says more information will be released at a news conference scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at the state police barracks in North Syracuse.
Local media outlets report that the woman was injured during a carjacking around 9 p.m. at the Great Northern Mall in the town of Clay, just north of Syracuse.
