ALBANY, N.Y. – The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation reminded ice anglers Friday that all fishing shanties must be removed.
Owners that fail to remove their shanty by March 15 can be ticketed and face a maximum fine of $100.
Shanties that fall partially through the ice become hard to remove and create hazards to snowmobiles, and those that remain after the ice has melted become a hazard for boats.
