Warrensburg teaching assistant accused of altercations with students


WARRENSBURG, N.Y. - The Warren County Sheriff's Office has arrested teaching assistant they say had two physical altercations with students while at work.

47-year-old Ricky Wilcox, of Queensbury, has been charged Thursday with two misdemeanors counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child for the incidents which allegedly occurred while he was working as a teaching assistant at the Warrensburg Central School District.

Authorities say the first incident happened on March 7th when Wilcox had a physical altercation with a 16-year-old student. Based on the investigation, at one point during the incident, Wilcox forcibly grabbed the student. The student was not injured as a result of this incident.

The second incident happened the next day, on March 8th, Wilcox allegedly had another physical altercation with a different 16-year-old student. During that incident, the student suffered an abrasion to his harm that did not require medical treatment. 

The Warrensburg Central School District tells NEWS10 they are "addressing the incident" and that Wilcox "has been with the school for a number of years."
