LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - A sex offender who pleaded guilty to groping an elderly woman in an adult home was sentenced to four years in prison in Albany County Court on Wednesday.
64-year-old Richard Ragone, of Colonie, pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree Sexual Abuse in February after police say he was working as a maintenance worker at the Loudonville Home for Adults when he physically assaulted the 91-year-old woman.
Police say while on duty in November, Ragone touched the breast of the resident while she was sleeping.
Ragone, a level 3 sex offender, was also sentenced to 10 years of post-release supervision.
The Loudonville Home for Adults has released the following statement after the sentencing: "Since discovering this crime, the operators of the Loudonville Home for Adults
have taken a series of actions to ensure that an incident such as this will
never occur again at our residence. Every member of the staff has been
screened, criminal background checks have been conducted and all have
participated in mandatory training sessions designed to enhance the safety and
security of our residents."
