DENNING, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say they've charged a 39-year-old man with fatally beating his girlfriend last week at their home in the Catskill mountains.
State police say Tuesday that Gerald Babcock was arrested Monday in the Sullivan County village of Liberty and charged with first-degree manslaughter.
Troopers say the charges stem from last Thursday's death of his girlfriend, 37-year-old Jamielynn Bleakley. Police say she died at Westchester Medical Center a day after emergency crews found her with multiple injuries outside the couple's home in the Ulster County town of Denning, 60 mile southwest of Albany.
Investigators say there were indications of domestic violence during the months they had lived together.
Babcock is being held in the county jail without bail. It couldn't immediately be determined if he has a lawyer.
