SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Schenectady County Sheriff Dominic Dagostino has been reviewing the newly passed NY SAFE Act in recent weeks according to a statement released Monday.
Dagostino was among 52 Sheriffs from across NYS who participated in a conference to further consider the law and formulate the formal position of the NYS Sheriffs' Association.
Dagostino says he has found a number of provisions within the NY SAFE Act that will help law enforcement keep our citizens safe. However, the sheriff has concerns about several provisions within the legislation that he feels should be revisited.
Above is a four page position statement from the NYS Sheriffs' Association that clearly outlines the Sheriff's position on which provisions should be revisited by the governor and the NYS legislature.
